The rate constant of a reaction increases by a factor of 2 when the temperature is increased by 10C above room temperature (25C). Calculate the activation energy for this reaction. I got the answer 5.76. So if that is true... how do I solve the next two questions? If the activation energy of another reaction is double that of the above reaction, by what factor does the rate constant change when temperature is increased by 10C above room temperature (25C) for this reaction? By what factor does rate change for the 10C rise in temperature when the rate constant doubles? By what factor does rate change in part c (when the activation energy is doubled) for the same 10C rise in temperature? What conclusion can you draw about how the magnitude of the activation energy determines the effect of temperature on reaction rates?
