In 1974, Lotus and Palmer performed classic study showing how language used to ask question can affect eyewitness memory. In study, college students watched filmed of automobile accident and then were asked about what they saw. One group was enquired, questions what they saw. One group was enquired, "About how fast were cars going when they smashed into each other?" Another group was enquired same question expect verb was changed to hit" instead of smashed into" group reported significantly higher estimates of speed than hit" group. Assume the researcher repeats this study with sample of today's college students and obtains following results.
