Biology and Environmental Science In January 2014 a polar vortex caused extreme weather conditions across Canada and much of the United States. Travel was treacherous, and countless flights were canceled at various airports. The severe cold at Pearson International Airport in Toronto caused at least 200 flights to be delayed, and additional police were needed to deal with irate passengers. A random sample of passengers in the airport was obtained, and the number of days delayed and the systolic blood pressure of each was recorded.
