In this exercise we study the price of channel inversion.
1. Consider a narrowband Rayleigh flat fading SISO channel. Show that the aver- age power (averaged over the channel fading) needed to implement the channel inversion scheme is infinite for any positive target rate.
2. Suppose now there are L> 1 receive antennas. Show that the average power for channel inversion is now finite.
3. Compute numerically and plot the average power as a function of the target rate for different L to get a sense of the amount of gain from having multiple receive antennas. Qualitatively describe the nature of the performance gain.
Determine the work done in carrying a charge -2x10-6C from P1 = (2, 1, -1) to point P2 = (8, 2, -1) (both in cartesians) in the field E = yax + xay (all in SI units) by integrating QE.dL along the straight line connecting the two points. Note: E i..
The mobility of electrons in certain semiconductor is 1400 cm2/ (volt x sec). At room temperature (T=300K) calculate the diffusion length of electrons. What are the assumptions used in low-level injection of carriers

Show that the time displacement in a periodic function has no effect on the magnitude spectrum, but changes the phase spectrum by an amount of -nω0τ radians for the component of the frequency nω0 if the time displacement is τ.
A three-phase transmission line having a reactance of 120 ohms per phase is connected to a wye-connected load whose resistance is 160 ohms per phase. If the supply volatge is 70kV line-to-line, calculate a) The line-to-neutral voltage per phase.
Compare the differences between MAC and H-MAC. Explain why using H-MAC is more secure than MAC? Be prepared to fully support your argument. Give examples of commonly used MACs and H-MACs.

The output is 1 when the pattern abca has occurred an even number of times in x(0,t). Give a state description of the system. Use a state vector approach and a minimum-number-of-states approach.
You must design a three axis position indicator for the latest robot arm. Using no more than two operational amplifiers, design a circuit that uses three inputs, v1, v2, and v3 to produce an output signal vo=3 v1-2 v2-5 v3.
The density of electrons and the electron mobility in the graphene sheet are NI = 5 x 10^12 cm-2 and µ0 = 20,000 cm2/Vs, respectively. a) Determine the sheet resistance of this graphene film.
