PART 1 PURPOSE :

The purpose of this assignment is to enhance the learners' ability to analyse and evaluate the performance of portfolios.

REQUIREMENT: Select any two funds from myunittrust. Collect their monthly closing prices (Net Asset Value) from Jan 2016 to Jan 2017. Compute their returns, standard deviations and their betas. Analyse their risks and returns and evaluate their performance using Sharpe, Treynor and Jensen measures.

PART 2 PURPOSE:

The purpose of this assignment is to enhance the learners' ability to analyse the economic, industry and structural influences on stock returns. In addition, learners learn how to select relevant information and techniques to analyse and evaluate a firm's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. With this analysis and evaluation, learners can apply several fundamental stock valuation models.

REQUIREMENT: Select any two companies listed in Bursa Malaysia. Assume that you are given RM300,000 to invest in these companies. Compare these two companies in which you are thinking of investing by using top-to-bottom approach. These companies produce annual reports and financial statements. Obtain these documents to assist you in making investment decisions. In order to provide a comparative analysis in a structured way, you need to write a report that will identify those issues that appear relevant to your investment decision. The report should include your decision with full explanation on whether or not to invest in any of the companies.

This is an individual assignment. This assignment requires you to conduct a structured financial and strategic analysis of these two companies of your choice and prepare a written report.
