An hourly chemical analysis is required in the production process of a highly sensitive electronic component. The parts per million (ppm) of a rare earth component is required to average 100 with a tolerance limit of plus or minus 5. The current production process averages 102 ppm with a standard deviation of 1.5 ppm.

A. Compute Cpk and Cp.

B. Is this process capable? Explain your answer.

C. Changes to production process were implemented and the new average is 101.5 ppm with a standard deviation of 1.1 ppm. Is this modified process capable? Explain your answer.

D. If the process is still not capable what further action would you recommend to make the process capable?
