The phrase text comprehension is probably a little ambiguous. When I read the title Ithink of understanding a bodyof language in print like a textbook. Do you share my  understanding or does it mean something entirely different for you?

Well let's see how ourdiscussion goes. Text messagingis an interesting phenomenon. In one sense youarelimited in the number ofcharacters that can be sent in a single text message, so many havedeveloped different conventions and shortcuts (e.g., emojis, abbreviations, etc) to convey more information in a text (though I havestarted to notice that with most people having unlimited texting thatthey will just send multiple texts that individually have nowhere nearthe character limit). However, sometimes"comprehension" of such messages is affected.

Your chapter activity is to create an experiment (you DO NOTactually need to conduct the experiment, but can to really impress me) that tests some aspect of text comprehensionusing textmessaging.

Please do not propose a replication of a previous study. The parametersfor your experimentare wide open(except for the variable of Age-do NOT use AGE as a variable). The best experiments (as determined by me) will earn 2x the credit normally earned. That is, there may be extra credit available beyond a single student. So be creative, precise, and clearregarding your experiment and ensure your submission is well written.

In your experiment make sure you EXPLICITLY identify your IV(s) (andlevels), DV(s)(probably some measure of comprehension), your hypothesisand most importantly what the pattern of resultswould look like given your hypothesis and WHY(based on the text comprehension
literature/theory/concepts) the results are predicted to look that way.

You will want to cite at least one study in support of your study and discuss specifically HOW the study relates to YOUR study.

Just stating that "A study by XXXX and YYYYY (2015) examined textcomprehension and so did my study." is not sufficient. The submissionshould be at least 1 pagedouble spaced.
