Case Study Scenario: The CEO and Governing Board President sit down monthly and review key issues for the hospital and health system. They are reviewing employee and physician survey data that show a decrease in satisfaction, as well as a trend downward in the perception of management. Specifically, recent reductions in the workforce (lay-off), changes in the performance management systems administered by HR, and a highly controversial executive bonus program for the executive team have been a focal point of the negative discussion. The Board Chairman wants a root cause analysis done on the organizational results to assess the problem, the issues involved, and remedy options for the senior leadership team. The Board and CEO have hired you as a consultant to assist in the development of possible solution (s). You have been given the data and findings that were referenced above to provide context and background for your engagement contract.
