Question: The teacher should consider how her students should behave now that she has created a statement of purpose. It is possible to define these behavior expectations as broad goals for behavior. For young students, behavior expectations can be abstract, so rules should help clarify their meaning as they are applied to specific activities and contexts. The purpose of rules is to clearly define the appropriate behavior that educators expect students to display. There are several reasons why rules are important: Students should be able to monitor their own behavior Encourage students to behave appropriately by reminding them and motivating them. Students in classrooms are expected to behave in a number of ways, including being respectful, responsible, ready, and safe.
I am an elementary Physical Education Teacher currently. For PE classes, classroom management strategies are essential. Students' chances of learning are maximized when classroom management maximizes space, lesson time, and resources (Powell, 2015). As physical education involves a large area, sports facility safety procedures, and gym rules and regulations, classroom management is more challenging than ordinary classroom management. Students' behavior must be controlled because they move in large groups, play on large fields, have different sporting backgrounds and abilities, and must abide by safety procedures. Therefore, managing physical education class has higher safety risk than the normal classroom. This is because physical education teaching and learning processes take place in large space such as swimming pool, football field, gymnasium, and outdoor court. The ratio of student-teacher might achieve to one teacher to fifty students (1:50) in regular physical education classes. Thus, in my experience it is necessary for physical education teachers to keep on improving their pedagogical skill and ability to manage classroom in the diverse teaching areas with huge group of students learning together.
Classroom routines help students understand what to expect (and what they're expected to do) during class by creating a consistent, predictable sequence of events (Iris, 2021). Routines are critical to maximizing instruction and minimizing disruptive behavior in both elementary and secondary classrooms. Physical education teachers today use a variety of teaching methods. Physical education teachers are selected based on classroom conditions and their own characteristics . There are several components to practical class management in physical education.
