Students will be required to exhibit an understanding of the unit content by undertaking an analysis of team work and team building at your facility. In the assignment you are expected to:

Define 'team work'. Consider if families and clients are included in your team. If so, why or why not? Identify the members of your team and provide rationales (include your own as a senior manager). Briefly explain key roles and how function of these roles may affect either positively/negatively affect the organization you work in. Identify how these roles may be improved throughout the organization ie: team building, management, communication, competencies etc.

Describe team building activities that you as the manager could implement to improve team work at your agency. You may want to include improved communication processes, re-structuring of work loads or teams, improved committee structures, change in policy or procedures, etc.

Critically analyse how team building is promoted or could be improved at your organisation. Discuss the limitations or barriers to promoting team work and team building activities. Include in your discussion the benefits of team work.

Identify current changes within the Australian health care system which may affect your organization. Briefly cover key issues within either the aged care sector or disability services which may affect how your team is managed.

To achieve a passing grade, students must attempt all components of assessment for the unit, and achieve a minimum 50% aggregate mark.
