Question: A 34years old, g 5 p-2-1-2-3, who has just delivered 9 pound baby boy. she had severe pre-eclampsia and was placed on magnesium sulfate during labor. her labor was also agumented with oxytocin. her spontaneous delivery was over a median episiotomy that extended to a 3 laceration with delivery of the baby shoulder. Her placenta was delivered spontaneously 5minutes after the baby was born. There is an IV running of 5% Dextrose and water with 20 units of oxytocin running at 125mL per hour. The nurse caring for her is making the initial assessment, 5minutes after completion of the suturing of the episiotomy.
