Flow net

A hydrodynamic study of the flow past a flat plate is conducted in water. The plate length is L = 0.2 m and the plate width equals the test section width (0.5 m). For a particular angle of incidence, dye injection in a water tunnel gives the flow pattern shown in Figure E3.4 on the next page. The mean flow is horizontal.

(b) The upstream velocity is 6.5 m/s. Estimate the drag force and the lift force acting on the plate. Indicate clearly the sign convention. You may have to draw more streamline and equipotentials to obtain a good accuracy
