Assignment - Task Analysis
Complete a Competing Behaviour Pathway for the identified behavior.
Using the replacement behaviour identified in the Competing Behaviour Pathway.
- Develop the task analysis.
- Create the plan to teach the skill.
Identify the target skill
Identify the pre-requisite skills. (What does the individual need to already know to learn the skill)?
Break the skill down into teachable parts.
Ensure that the skill is complete and assumptions are clarified.
Teach the task analysis to a peer and identify if you missed steps or made steps too large (assumptions).
- Re-write the task with your changes based on your assumptions.
Describe in detail how the skill will be taught. Discuss the method and how it is broken down within the task analysis.
Identify the criteria for when the small steps within the skills have been mastered. (e.g., completing the step without prompt 5 times). Ensure that the teaching plan involves the use of prompts that are appropriate to the individual.
Operational definition: this should be part of the paths ay above under the behaviour section.
Hypothesis: Remember the target routine/pathway is the hypothesis.
Replacement Behaviour (Target Skill): Develop a task analysis
Create a plan to teach the skill
- Identify the task that you will be teaching.
- Pre-requisite skills.
Break the skill down into teachable parts.
Teaching the skill: Teach the skill and check your assumptions:
Based on teaching the above steps to someone answer the following questions
- Did you break the steps down enough?
- Did you miss any steps?
- Did you make assumptions within the steps (Assuming that the person would know the next thing to do)?
Modify the task with your changes based on your assumptions (Use a different font colour to denote the changes made).
How the skill will be taught: Identify the teaching method that you would use for this task analysis and why?
- How will you incorporate the prompt hierarchy?
- What criterion will you set to ensure that the person is ready to move onto the next step (when the Sally completes each step 5 times independently she will be prompted to try the next step independently)
Analyze your teaching methods.
- How did your Individual do with learning the task.
- Was your individual successful?
