Optional Book Report: First, you will provide a complete citation and a brief description of the plot. Then you will address these three course objectives, supporting your discussion with citations from the novel:
1. Consider the course objective "Evaluate how attitudes toward death develop throughout the life cycle and how variables such as sex, occupation, religion, social class, and culture affect these attitudes." Note whether myths or stereotypes are supported or rejected in the novel.
2. With regard to the objective on gerontological theory, referring to the life course perspective, comment on how this perspective helps you to understand the characters in the novel. If your novel has characters of different generations, make sure to consider this in your analysis. You may also cite other information on theory from your textbook.
3. Consider the objective "Examine ethical issues as related to the area of death and dying in contemporary society? Choose one character in the novel and briefly discuss how the life and/or death of the character would differ if this character was of another race, social class or gender.
Book reports should be no longer than 4 pages in length single space
