Many people see the world as win/lose situations, with a bias toward our own point of view. We also may avoid taking responsibility for our contribution to a conflict. We accuse others of behavior which we are doing ourselves. We react defensively, rather than collaboratively. We decide the outcome of a situation before the discussion, resulting in self-fulfilling prophesies (I will win at all costs. There is no way anyone is going to listen to me. I don't have any power in this situation. I will pretend to have power, even if I don't. If that involves some shading of the truth, so be it.)

Explain a conflict where your own thoughts led you into competitive conflict behaviors. Discuss your thoughts about the conflict that led you to your win/lose approach. Based on your learning , how could you have improved your conflict behavior?
