Question

Competition makes up a large part of animal communication, and a particularly important part of sexual selection, as animals battle for mates. There are two models for competitive interactions: war of attrition and assessor. In war of attrition, animals are unaware of the resource holding potential of their competitors and battle until one of the individuals bow out of the ?ght. In the assessor model, individuals are able to display their resource holding potential through signals, and therefore are able to assess their competitors prior to engaging in a ?ght. Which model do you think would be more evolutionarily advantageous and why?
