More alternative electric energy providers have constructed wind, thermal, solar, and gas turbine power stations in competition with traditional coal fired plants. Large industrial customers require the reliability of coal sourced energy. But residential electricity consumers have both been reducing consumption and been opting for these alternative sources. This has led some coal plants to operate at less full capacity most of the time. How does this affect competition between providers of coal sourced electricity?
