As we continue to stress, compensation is one of the largest expenses for organizations. So management has a responsibility to ensure a return from this investment. Performance management is a continuous process focused on creating a mutual understanding between the supervisor and employee on job responsibilities and expectations. This process identifies opportunities for employee development, improvements to work flow, and refinement of priorities. Sounds important and it is. But it is not typically something that is done well in organizations.
