Value Statement "There is only one child in all the world, and that child's name is All Children"

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital provides top of the line care for infants, children and teens that suffer from the most acute medical diagnosis in the world. Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, they provide cutting edge technology to prevent and treat patients. Taking part in pediatric medical education and clinical research helps us to provide care in more than 50 specialties. With more than half of our 259 beds devoted to intensive care level services, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's West Coast. Physicians and community hospitals count on us to care for critically ill patients and perform complex surgical procedures (Johns Hopkins, n.d-D). Not only do the children count on us but their parents too. At Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, they believe that parents and families should be in the center of their care. Their philosophy is rooted among family centered care. Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital encourages parents along with their children of all ages to help make decisions so that everyone feels included. To help us design our hospital that we opened in January 2010, we asked patients, parents and our staff to share ideas. The result was a spacious and bright hospital with individual rooms where parents can comfortably spend the night (Johns Hopkins, n.d-E). With the cutting edge, latest technology and their dedication to family centered care, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital provides a superior environment for healing.

Strategic Position

Unlike strategic posture which includes the hospitals' vision, goals and mission statements, strategic position is being aware as a hospital or organization of four specific things. Those four things are: consumer focus, competitor awareness, core competencies and resource allocations. Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital strives to make a safe and positive environment not only for the patient but for the families as well. Their cultural values that set them apart from any hospital surrounding them is dignity and respect, information sharing, participation, collaboration, and communication.

Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital is highly attentive when it comes to the consumer and it shows based on their mission values, cultural values and their dedication to the patient and their families. To further benefit and improve their quality of care, families consistently provide them with feedback through a survey that measures the quality of hospital experiences. The Child Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (Child HCAHPS) survey helps them assess and enhance the quality of care and service that they provide (Johns Hopklins, n.d-F). Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital is also aware of different competitors around the area and strives to be the best among other hospitals therefore, the overall hospital rating of 9 or 10 measures the impact of their attention to safety, quality, communication and the hospital environment on the overall patient experience.

On the other hand, Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital is allocating resources by teaming up with Tampa General Hospital and USF Health St. Petersburg to expand their pediatric general surgery services at Tampa General Hospital's Children's Medical Center. This collaboration will serve to enhance the comprehensive pediatric services already offered at TGH and will provide expanded access to pediatric general surgery interventions for patients and their families (Johns Hopkins, 2020-G).
