Diet analysis assessment (practical report 2000 words)
The aim of this piece of work is to assess dietary and nutrient intake in a group of individuals. In particular, your report should include:
1. Comparison of group data, e.g. malesvs females.
2. Comparison of nutrient intake data with Dietary Reference Values(DRVs).
3. Comparison of two methods (food diary vs 24-hour recall) for collecting nutrient intake data.
4. Discussion on the practical problems and scope for error in estimating usual dietary and nutrient intake.
In your report, you will need to present and discuss the results.
Your report should include an abstract/summary, introduction and brief methods sections, with most of the focus on the results, data presentation and discussion.
Your report should be guided by the following:
• Abstract- concise; self-contained
• Introduction- background/context; reasons for measuring diet; reference to relevant literature; aims
• Methods- brief outline of methods
• Results- calculation and statistical analysis; use of table/figure
• Discussion of results- interpretation with reference to DRVs; independence of thought; reflection on methods
• Composed and presented in a scientific report suitable for a scientific audience (including appropriate spelling, grammar and punctuation)
• Citing of sources (Harvard format) and listed accurately
Use appropriate tables/figures to present descriptive / summary data only (i.e. mean and SD), not the raw data. Some aspects to investigate and discuss include:
• Differences between males and females (using t-test to compare results, where appropriate)
• Compare to DRVs-To much? Too little? Does it matter?
• Differences in nutrient intake data from food diaries and 24-hour recall (using t-test to compare results, where appropriate)
• Within your discussion, discuss the problems with collecting and analysing diet and nutrient intake data; include discussion of errors involved.
make sure that report will not include plagiarism.
please use SPSS for statisical analysis.
