evaluating hospital comparison data and develop a dashboard to benchmark aspects of the coding function for internal and national standards. The information is used by HIM managers and coding supervisors across the network. HIM works closely with reimbursement and revenue, include data on length of stay, accounts receivable, DRGs, or case mix index as part of a dashboard presentation.

Question 1: Coding Data: Research national inpatient and outpatient coding standards from AHIMA body of knowledge and other resources.

• Compare the various aspects of the standards. some examples of data points used to analyze and dashboard, i.e., length of stay, accounts receivable, DRGs, or case mix index, to name a few. Or you can select your own data points. AHIMA, AAPC, etc., are good sites to look at.
• Make a coding dashboard based on the standards. It should contain 4 different coding aspects. The data can be qualitative or quantitative, for inpatient or outpatient coding.

Question 2: Dashboard

• make 4 graphs to help make a dashboard. can use MS Excel to make the graphs. Include actual data within tables to make a good graphical display. Some reputable organizations, like CMS or Leapfrog, have a tool to compare hospital data.

Question 3: PowerPoint

Make a 20-slide PowerPoint presentation to include:

• Detailed Visuals and graphs of hospital data and coding data for the dashboard.
• For each graph, provide a descriptive summary to explain what the information reflects, and why/how it is a valuable tool for HIM services and managers with significant examples.
• Evaluate the use of benchmarking and comparative data with significant examples to support ideas and make insightful connections.....including exceptional supporting facts, figures, and/or statements.
• Based on interpretation of the hospital and coding data results, whats the predictions or assumptions about the data.
• Justify the interpretation based on the summary of data And respurces
• Recommend how the data will be used for making decisions for HIM managers and coding supervisors across the hospital system.
