Question: Suffolk Hospital has an outpatient radiology facility located in the Berkshires. This facility provides X-rays testing for urgent care centers and community health centers in the area.

The facility is continuously behind schedule, which is problematic since some of the patients might require emergency orthopedic surgery.

The Director of Radiology, Nicole, has decided to examine the sequencing of patient X-rays examination. She hopes to find a scheduling system whereby the sequence of X-rays exams leads to better performance outcomes. Nicole collected data to test four job sequencing rules: First Come First Serve (FCFS), Shortest Processing Time (SPT), Slack Time Remaining (STR) and Earliest Due Date (EDD).
