1. Compare the protagonist Neo with the experience of the prisoner who got freed from the cave in Platos Republic. How are they the same?

2. The Matrix also explored the question famously posed by the 17th century Frenchman Rene Descartes, about our inability to trust our senses to know what reality really is. Descartes even noted the difficulty of being sure of human experience because it can either be a dream or a systematic deception of an evil genius. Cite 2 examples or scenarios in the movie wherein they point to the question of not trusting what our senses can grasp. 3. In the scene about the decision of NEO wherein he has to choose between the red pill or the blue pill, many philosophers commented that it raised what is known as the ethics of belief. Neo's choice is to embrace either the "really real" (as exemplified by the red pill he is offered by Morpheus) or to return to his more normal "reality" (via the blue one).

In your opinion, would you rather choose the red pill or the blue pill if given the choice? The red pill is the truth of reality and the blue pill is the comfortable illusion. Which one and why?
