If you fire an employee mean or cruelly, it can affect how the other employees see the managers. If an employee is laid off for sound reasoning and done respectfully, it can show other employees that you are not complicated or absurd. It can cause stress to current employees because now they have to fill in for the employee they lost. Their doubt on job security will rise, making them more anxious in the workplace affecting their progress. An article by HR says, "It could also make them feel unable to speak up regarding any problems that they might be facing in the workplace in fear of being dismissed." If workers are unhappy in their place of work, it can result in "remaining employees could become unhappy in the workplace, which will likely affect the running of the business. Employees might decide to resign and find employment elsewhere." Losing employees, precious ones, will only be harmful to your business. When dismissing an employee, you should always be respectful and ensure the other employees are secure in their position.
