Part A: Compare and contrast covalent bonds and non-covalent bonds.
There are two types of covalent bonds and four types of noncovalent bonds that are discussed.
1. First, you should compare and contrast covalent vs. noncovalent bonds as a whole.
a. Description includes both similarities and differences
b. The description describes the overall (i.e., most general) characteristics of covalent and noncovalent bonds-without discussing specific types of interactions.
2. For the second part, you should compare and contrast polar vs. nonpolar covalent bonds.
a. Description includes both similarities and differences
b. Description provides enough detail to demonstrate a clear understanding of each bond type
3. For the third part, you should compare and contrast the four types of noncovalent bonds the way it's talked about in biology: ionic bonds, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions.
a. All four types of noncovalent bonds that were discussed in class are discussed.
b. Description includes both similarities and differences
c. Descriptions provide enough detail to demonstrate a clear understanding of each bond type
4. The Contrast of concepts must be parallel.
5. Gives all the references and works cited used for this.
