1. Are Mexican Americans a Colonized or immigrant minority group? Both? Neither? Based on what you read, why do you conclude that opinion?

2. Compare Chicanismo with Black and Red Power. How and why do these protest movements differ? Describe the key ideas, leaders, and organizations of Mexican American protest.

Using the texts, the lectures, and the internet answer the following:

1. Compare and contrast the Japanese relocation camps with Indian Reservations in terms of paternalism and coerced acculturation.

2. What impact did the WW II Japanese Internment experience have on the Japanese Americans economically, How were Japanese Americans compensated for their losses? (see article in link above) Does the compensation paid to Japanese Americans provide a precedent for possible similar payments (or reparations) to African Americans for their losses under slavery? Why or why not?

1. Identify contributions that Asian Americans have made to education, labor, government, and culture.
2. Describe the shared immigrant experience of Asian Americans from migration to incorporation.
3. Identify the laws and policies that have been created to maintain social order specific to Asian Americans. They will identify the policy's purpose and analyze its consequences throughout history.
4. Make introspective examinations of their personal views of race in America regarding Asian Americans and how it has shaped American culture.
5. Engage in respectful and thoughtful dialogue with students of various races and ethnicities regarding the treatment of Asian Americans.
