Instructions: Compare and contrast Bapsi Sidhwa's Cracking India with Deepa Mehta's film adaptation, 1947 Earth.
- Through the comparison between the film and the novel, you will be discussing three specific points in order to justify how both the mediums represent the trauma. What are the similarities and differences between the novel and the film? Why does Deepa Mehta make certain decisions to eliminate certain characters and scenes? How is Lenny represented in the novel versus the film? Does Ayah have a voice in the film versus the novel? You can also discuss Ice Candy Man/Dil Navaz's transformation?
