Vision Plan and Critical Analysis of IEP/IFSP
Title Page: Introduce this assignment including key information including, but not limited to, with whom and where your conversation about the vision plan was conducted, and how you know this child and family.
Meet the Child: Describe who this child is and other essential information such as family, age, culture, gender, disability, current school and class.
Family Vision Plan: Describe the vision the family holds for their child by answering the following a) what are the dreams for this child, b) what are the nightmares for this child, c) what would an ideal day would be like d) what specific supports would be needed to make this a reality, and e) what specific steps can be done today to start making the family's ideas for the future become a reality?
Critique and Analysis: Conduct an in-depth analysis of the child's individualized education program (IEP) or individualized family support plan (IFSP) to determine the quality and integrity of this document and the process by o Analyze critically the IEP/IFSP document and process. For each point back up your ideas with examples from the IEP/IFSP including page numbers.
o Compare and contrast the family's vision with the child's actual IEP/IFSP to determine the alignment with the family's priorities and perspectives.
Reflection and Recommendations :

Articulate (a) personal, thoughtful and deep insights, lessons and/or reflections you personally gained as a result of this experience, and (b) describe how these reflections will shape your own teaching practice.
o Professional Recommendation:
Based on your critique and analysis above, provide recommendations (which are clearly tied to course readings) to improve the process and/or outcomes of the IEP experience. Please address: a) tips for the family to strengthen the school or IEP experience for them and their child, and b) specific strategies from DEC and/or the Teaching Everyone text to meet the child's individualized learning.
