Graphical Displays Extending your work from the Unit 1 Discussion, you will now analyze and compare the IQs of three different samples.
Watch the following Unit 2 Discussion video, and then using the Unit 2 Discussion Excel file, answer the questions below: Numerical Summaries and Graphs: Follow the instructions from the video to generate your three random sample datasets. Copy and paste special to a new Excel workbook and save as a .csv file. Go to StatKey and click on One Quantitative and One Categorical Variable. Then click Upload File and find the file on your computer. StatKey will automatically compute summary (descriptive) statistics for each of the three groups, including measures of central tendency (mean and median) and measures of spread (standard deviation) for each of your groups. Construct parallel dot plots, histograms, and boxplots using StatKey.
Use a snipping tool to insert your results including your summary statistics as well as your three sets of graphs. MAKE SURE TO ATTACH YOUR .CSV FILE TO YOUR POST. Central Tendency: Compare and contrast the central tendency of each group. Which group has the highest mean? Does it seem significantly higher? Which group has the lowest mean? Does it seem significantly lower? How do the medians compare to the means within each group - are they close or different to the means and why?
Variation: Which group has the greatest dispersion or spread? What does that tell you about that group? Which group has the lowest spread? What does that tell you about that group? Include standard deviation values and features you notice from the graphs. Inference: Do all three of your sample groups seem like they could have come from the same population? Do any of the groups seem like they could have come from a different population? Explain.
