THE MEANING OF LIFE: For existentialists, arguably the most fundamental philosophical question is about 'the meaning of life', or alternatively, about what makes a life meaningful in general. Compare and contrast Camus's and Nagel's views on this matter (and James' views as well);
a. What are Camus' vs. Nagel's understanding of the Absurd, what it is and why it arises in our human lives? Compare and contrast Camus and Nagel, identify the pros and cons for each thinker's views.
b. What are Camus' vs. Nagel's vs. James' understanding of how we should respond to the Absurd and/or how we should seek meaningfulness in our lives? (Note: James does not discuss the Absurd explicitly. However, he does talk about the best way to think about meaning in our life in general.) Compare and contrast Camus's, Nagel's, and James' views, identify pros and cons of each thinker's views.
c. At the end of the day, what is your own view about the meaning of life, or alternatively, about what makes a life meaningful? How does it compare/contrast with Camus', Nagel's, and James' views? Which thinker(s) do you agree with most and Least, based on your own view and why?
