Metabolism
Industrial fermentation is the use of microbial fermentation to make products useful to humans such as bread, beer, wine, cheese, biofuel and sewage treatment.
Describe one example of industrial fermentation.
Your description should list the reactants (inputs), products (output), and organism used.
Be as specific as possible. For example, different cheese are made using different microorganisms and slightly different ingredient.
Lastly, explain the advantages and disadvantages of a microorganism using fermentation to generate energy compared to aerobic respiration.
Biofuels
Corn and other crops can provide ethanol and other biofuels that currently costs more than gasoline and other fossils fuels, but is a renewable energy source with few emissions.
First, compare and contrast biofuels and fossils fuels. For example, how is corn converted into ethanol? What is the original source of energy in fossil fuels? Then discuss whether or not you think biofuels are viable alternative to fossil fuels as a renewable energy source.
