Question:
There are many methods of fastening members of structures and machines together; welding, bolting, riveting, stapling, adhesive bonding, and many variations of each.
Joining may involve like or unlike materials, and this will influence the particular method chosen. Many assemblies will contain more than one method and motor vehicle assembly for example includes all the above.
OBJECT
Research and describe joining methods in one of the following:
1. Motor vehicles 2. Airplanes 3. Yachts 4. Whiteware
Describe the methods used. Show a simple schematics sketch of the joining method and briefly describe the process. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of each joining method. Outlining the reasons why certain joining solutions are preferred a particular application. Your report should be limited to between 1000 and 1500 words and include suitable diagrams where appropriate to enhance your description.
