Some of the reasons that intermodal transportation has become so popular include the cost reductions that come with the increased flexibility, a higher level of reliability, since there is less handling of the goods and materials, which can lead to losing materials or damaging of materials from overhandling and also an increased capacity level, which reduces the trips needed to move materials, which again, translates to more efficient means of moving goods at a lower cost and faster turnaround time.
