Green consumerism has become an important topic. Companies draw consumer's attention to products and/or services that are "green," believing that this will encourage consumers to buy the product or service. At some academic conferences, no paper programs or note pads are provided. Conferences proudly state that they are "going green."
Take the time to answer the following questions:
1. Do you care if an organization is "green"? Why? Why not? What does "green" mean to you?
2. Would "going green" influence you to purchase that company's product or service? Why? Why not?
3. Should grocery stores charge consumers for bags as a way to discourage use of plastic bags? Why? Why not?
4. Should businesses be responsible for the environment? Why? Why not? To what extent?
5. Dr. Suzuki, a Canadian scientist, has spent years promoting the natural environment and sustainability. In one or two sentences, indicate whether you think he has been successful. If you think he has been, state why. If you think he hasn't been, state why not.
