COMP 20015 Routing And Switching - Middle East College
Learning Outcome 1: Evaluate the fundamental concepts and techniques of layer 2 switching, STP, VLAN and ACL.
Learning Outcome 2: Evaluate the characteristics of distance vector and link state routing protocols.
Assignment Objective
Assignment will assess student's knowledge on Routing and Switching. The main aim of the assignment is researching the latest developments in the field of routing and switching and prepare a report on ACL, STP, VLAN and routing protocols.
Assignment Tasks
1) Task 1 - Submit a work proposal for this assignment on or before 02/11/2020 (23:59) which must include:
• Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables.
• General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task2.
• Timeline for completion of the given tasks.
The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.
2) Task 2:
Attend the MOOC course assigned to you as part of this module through Cisco Networking Academy, provide your reflection on the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) with the help of suitable diagrams (drawn using packet tracer).
3) Task 3:
Select published papers reference (preferably from the ACM DL or IEEE CSDL) that is discussing Private VLAN. Summarize this paper in one page. The summary should include the main ideas presented in the paper. The paper you select MUST NOT BE DISCUSSED WITH ANOTHER STUDENT.
4) Task 4:
Write a report on Standard and Extended Access Control List. You are expected to illustrate the concept of Standard and Extended Access Control List using appropriate diagrams (drawn using packet tracer) and examples/scenario in which each type will be used.
5) Task 5:
As a network professional, evaluate IPv6 editions of the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocols based on the following:
• Scalability
• Routing Overhead
• Network Convergence
