Essay Purpose - Throughout this assignment you will put your knowledge of rhetoric into action as you research, write, revise, peer review, and polish your essay to create an argumentative research paper. Your paper must focus on issue of your choice related to Metro Detroit or your local community. This process of struggle, critical thinking, and scholarship will benefit you throughout your college career and beyond.

Task -
1. Approach this essay as a creative endeavor.
2. Put your research, drafting, and final version on your Essay 3 Google doc (see Collaborations tab) on Canvas. Do not erase information. Rather, add information and be sure to label your drafts.
3. Write a proposal for your essay. Your proposals should focus on one type of argument (fact, definition, evaluation, or causal argument).
4. Conduct primary and secondary research. You must incorporate at least 10 credible sources. Wikipedia is not a credible source and cannot be used for this assignment.
5. At least two of your sources must be from a library database. I recommend using ProQuest.
6. At least two of your sources must be interviews you conduct. The purpose of the interviews is to gain additional perspectives. After the interviews, determine how best to incorporate the information into your essay (paraphrase, summary, or quote). Consult this resource for conducting interviews.
7. Write draft 1 (4-6 pages).
8. Peer review draft 2.
9. Revise and write a final version (7-10 pages).
10. Use correct MLA formatting and citations.
