1. Explain the role of systems analysis and design on information systems.

2. Explain the need for initial investigation and information requirement analysis and evaluate the possible methods used to achieve this.

3. Describe the different phases of systems design.

Assignment Objective - This is an individual assignment aimed to give the student an overview of an Information System environment and to apply analyses and designing techniques during system development.

Assignment Tasks -

Task A - Detailed Proposal

Submit a Detailed proposal for this assignment which must include:

Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables.

General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to tasks.

Timeline for completion of the given tasks.

The detailed proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.

Task B - Analysis of an existing organization from the perspective of a System Analyst

You are requested to select an organization which needs an information system to record daily transactions. You need to conduct a research through the Internet and the available online resources' for an organization you have selected. Plan your Research in such a way to examine the issues faced by organization in currently available information system and explore the other types of information systems which can be incorporated to enhance the existing system. After conducting the research prepare the following:

1. Write a short description of the chosen organization/department and the type of information system currently in use.

2. Discuss any two problems faced by organization with the available information systems.

3. As a system analyst if you want to expand/replace the current system with additional features to solve the problems stated in task 2...you may need lot of additional information for your analysis. Which requirement gathering techniques you would be using? Justify?

4. Discuss the different phases followed while creating an information system for the initial information gathering in task 3.

Task C - Reflective Writing/Critical Evaluation

Reflect on the significance and meaning of your learning experience in this module. You could include the following:

a. Learning experience (content and language)

b. Self-evaluation

c. Challenges faced

d. Solutions

e. Plans for improvement
