Assignment:

Human attitudes toward the environment are shaped by several factors, including our cultural values, social class, technology, and relationships with others with whom we share the planet. While many people in developed nations value conservation and preservation of the environment, those values do not always shape our behaviors as we go about our daily lives as consumers with access to an almost limitless supply of goods and services. Most communities show evidence of the negative impact of the human pursuit of economic and technological development on our environment. A few examples of that evidence are paved streets that replaced green spaces. These high-density housing areas consume vast amounts of energy and water and generate equally vast amounts of waste and litter on the streets and roadsides.

To get started, you will need to explore your community for evidence of an environmental social problem. For example, you might find evidence of problems related to technology use and/or disposal problems, litter that makes a public park uninviting, deforestation, storm water run-off, poor air quality, or even disposable water bottles and one-cup coffee pods in your trash. Share the evidence of the environmental problem you have discovered with your peers and suggest what you think the underlying cause of the problem might be. Then, based on your current knowledge and research of current events, use the functionalist perspective to conclude whether the problem in your community is likely in some way related to the processes of globalization.

Please use in text citations and APA 7 format!
