The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that insurance exchanges be established in each state by 2014. The federal government will provide initial funding to help each state develop its insurance exchange. The state can design its exchange in a way that best fits into the current state delivery systems. If the state decides not to establish an insurance exchange, the federal government will establish an insurance exchange in that state. In this discussion, you will think about what is necessary to leverage influence with your elected officials.
