Title: specific and engaging
Outline:
INTRO (HOOK, THESIS + ROAD MAP/3 MAIN POINTS)
- Clearly communicate your specific research question. What will you argue? Why? What background or context do we need to understand your focused topic?
- the road map = the three main points (which become your three topic sentences, which begin and unify each body paragraph)
B1: TOPIC SENTENCE (Main point/argument #1)
- Mention possible examples and evidence
- Mention possible counter-arguments (They say this.... but I contend that...)
B2: Sub-point for Main Point #1
You should have at least 3 main points, which can then be further explored through sub-points. Each Body ¶ can have up to two sub-points.
Conclusion: it is too soon to know what you will conclude, but please speculate about where your argument may lead.
(Remember, you do NOT write the essay. You are only submitting an outline that states the thesis + main points + possible sub-points).
(Topic: a specific, researchable argument about a controversial and/or durable topic, chosen by you in consultation with peers and the instructor)
