The Task:
You are required to write and submit a reflection on your experience producing your capstone thesis. Your reflection must identify key moments in your experience andyour learning from them as a researcher, learner and aspiring engineer.You should provide insights into how these issues, situations or incidents have changed or reinforced your perspectives, priorities or values, and how they might influence your future behaviours or attitudes as a researcher and engineer. You should identify and explain 3 different moments (events, incidents, issues) and their possible effects/consequences for your professional development, learning and identity as a researcher and engineer.

Themes for Reflection
Reflection is a key professional skill and assists you to make meaning from your experiences so as to inform, improve or change your professional practice. We draw meaning from our experiences when we identify something significant about them for our learning, our values, and our perspectives, and these experiences usually take the form of a challenge to our prior understandings or "accepted ways of doing or knowing". For your Reflective Journal, your might consider the following themes as a basis for your reflection, add to them oruse your own selection (agreed with your Academic Supervisor).

• Professional identity as a researcher and/or engineer (your perspective of engineering and your place in it)
• Self-regulating professional (motivation, pro-action, conscientiousness, planning)
• Autonomy and independence (professional judgement, decision making, problem solving, responsibility)
• Empathy and collaboration (working with others, inclusion, reliability,facilitation, support)
• Critical evaluation (accepting feedback, assimilating advice into practice, flexibility, criticalawarenessof own performance)

Your Reflective Journal must:
• Demonstrate an awareness of the context in which you are researching and working, and your perceived role in it
• Elaborate and explore at least 3 significant moments (incidents, events, issues) that might have had an effect on your professional understandings, attitudes, values and development
• Provide an interpretation of these events as to their perceived meaning for you
• Consider any alternatives (perspective, reactions, possibilities) to your interpretation and insights
• Consider any literature that you have explored on the issue (s) to inform your perspective and conclusions
• Explain the significance of the incidents or events and their impact for your professional learning, development or identity
• Include at least 2-3 references relevant to your reflective incidents or themes.
