Forest signs a contract for the lease of a commercial space in which he hopes to operate a business. After he starts to renovate the property, he notices the property has no drain system. Forest contacts the owner of the building and the owner says the cost of installing plumbing will be a responsibility of Forest. Forest agrees to pay half of the cost of the plumbing, and the owner agrees to pay for the remaining half of the cost. When Forest tries to obtain payment for half of the cost as a reimbursement from the owner, the owner says the lease contract states all repair costs are to be borne by Forest. How would the parol evidence rule apply in this situation?
