Commercial patient billing is becoming more prominent to the public eye over the years. One of the main global factors that has impacted commercial insurance patient billing is technology. It is known that technology is always changing, at times not for the best. However, in regards to patient billing it is changing for the better. As I mentioned before, Excela Health is partnering with Optum360. Currently as a commercial insurance patient biller, we are used to releasing thousands of paper claims, looking at thousands of accounts on different systems, and not to mention the endless amount of spreadsheets that are submitted by the managers and supervisors. However, with this new partnership, comes new technologies.
This global factor matters because everything will all be in one place, no more different systems to check on claims. At this rate with the new technologies that will be available, the biller will be able to view not only more accounts but also older accounts that have not been sent out yet. Also, the billers will be able to look at as many claims as possible. This will not only help the billers but also help them keep the accounts organized and separated. A company’s leadership respond in a professional manner. I believe that the company’s management should respond in a positive manner, the fact that technology is on their side and not against them. With technology changing, in this case change is for the best.
