Karen Jarvis, a director of sales, Hal Boynton, president have responded to Kim’s request for a meeting. Kim has been with the company for over 15 years, compared to an average of 6 years of other employees. Kim has begun to feel underpaid as far her own living expenses begin to increase and is demanding a raise from Karen and Hal, arguing that she has to maintain her current lifestyle, she has seniority over everyone and, she always goes beyond the call of duty.

Once he decides to give Kim a raise. He tries to persuade Karen by saying, “What we need to focus on is her value to the company.” Comment on this remark by developing a compensation strategy that would help Hal to avoid similar future incidents.
