Question Your friend Amal is part of a team marketing a new savings product to help parents save to send their children to university. They believe that this product will attract many new savers as it is targeted at parents from demographic groups who do not/have not traditionally send their children to university. Amal's team are trying to decide on the size of the budget that should be allocated to the product. There is some promising research which asked people who paid for their children's university education whether they would have liked such a product. They were very enthusiastic about the product and said that they would definitely have purchased it. In fact there were some very vivid, moving stories of how respondents' lives had been changed by university. The team are really excited as they believe that this product will offer a real benefit to those saving for university. Some of the other teams in the organisation have been rather scathing about the product but Amal and colleagues are convinced that they are simply jealous and neither understand the importance of saving for university, nor have properly understood the market research.
