COMH7222A Approaches to Population Health Assignment -
Road traffic accidents are a major public health issue. In many Sub-Saharan African countries, they contribute to mortality and morbidity. Review the evidence for interventions and programmes that have had a significant effect on reducing road traffic accidents. You need to write up your findings in a report to the National Programme Manager outlining the two most important evidence-based strategies that need to be implemented to reduce or prevent road traffic accidents from happening and / or to reduce the mortality from injuries.
You need to choose a specific national context for this assignment. It could be your own country or another country of your choice.
Your task is to write a report presenting the evidence for effective strategies that reduce road traffic accidents and / or reduce mortality from injuries and then to summarise the two most important evidence-based strategies for improving health that need to be implemented to address the health problem in your selected country.
Your report needs to make a convincing case for why the two strategies you have selected are the most important and most appropriate strategies for your specific country context to deal with the health problem.
Your report should be 3500 words (±10%) and include the following four sections:
1. Brief description of the country context including information on the nature and extent of the health problem in the country.
2. Analysis of the main evidence-based strategies recommended internationally addressing the health problem categorised by the health promotion pillars.
3. Detailed description of your two selected strategies, and arguments for why you have prioritized them. This should link to the country context.
4. Conclusions and recommendations.
