In humans, colour blindness is a recessive trait carried on the X chromosome. Imagine that a couple, Watson and Mary, have a colour-blind daughter with the unusual karyotype of 45, X. That is, she has only one X chromosome instead of the usual two. Although Watson and Mary both have normal colour vision and normal karyotypes, Mary's father was colour-blind. Where could an error in meiosis have occurred that would have given rise to this colour-blind daughter with only one X chromosome.
