Scenario :

Delicious Ltd (A2D Ltd) is a restaurant chain in South East London. They have 20 restaurants, 600 employees and specialise in both African and European dishes.

The economic recovery has encouraged more outside eating and the company has decided to open new outlets. They wish to know the size of the potential market in West London where they intend to open a new state of the art restaurant.

You have been selected as Consultant to the Board of Directors of A2D Ltd to advice on this market development plan. You are required to:

Task 1: Data Collection Techniques

Create a plan for A2D Ltd for the collection of primary and secondary data for the proposed market research (AC 1.1).
Present the survey methodology and sampling frame A2D Ltd will use for the research.Design an appropriate questionnaire using both open and closed ended questions A2D Ltd will use for data collection

To achieve M1, you need to demonstrate effective approach in selecting data sources and data collection methods for the proposed market research for A2D Ltd.

To achieve D2, demonstrate effective plan for managing and organizing the activities involved in the proposed market study and research.

A2D Ltd has provided you with the yearly total sales and advertising expenditure (£'000) in 20 of its South Eastern restaurants

2.1 Create information to aid decision making for A2D Ltd by summarising data using the mean, mode and median

To achieve D1, justify your business conclusions through synthesis of ideas that are creative and original.

Task 3: Data Presentation and Forecasting

You have been asked by the Board of A2D Ltd to forecast future sales and advertising expenditure for their next Annual Board Meeting.

3.1 Using Excel spreadsheet, produce your information on pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, as appropriate and draw valid businessconclusions to aid the proposed market development plan of A2D Ltd

3.2 Produce scatter graphs and trend lines of the data above to forecast sales and expenditure for 2015

3.3 Prepare a business presentation using suitable software and techniques todisseminate information effectively

3.4 Compiling information from tasks 3.1 to 3.3, present your findings to the Board of A2D Ltd in a formal business report

To achieve M3, you need to use a range of methods of presentation with the use of technical language correctly.

Task 4: Software-generated information for decision making

Task 4.1: Management Information System

Explain how A2D Ltd manages inventory and customer orders using appropriate information processing tools.

Task 4.2: Project Management

Use the information below to construct a network diagram and determine the critical path.
Paula, the managing director, has taken on the responsibility for organising an annual conference for the local society of restaurant owners. Remembering the project management techniques she came across when studying for her professional qualification, Paula has decided that critical path analysis may be helpful in planning the conference.
