Since every Fall and Spring the fashion industry presents fashion week ,comment on the approach that targets young consumers with fashion labels. Should the designers be creating brands aimed at this market? Marketers target products by gender and in doing so automatically exclude the other gender. For instance, Easy bake ovens were made only in "feminine colors" and therefore excluded boys in their target audience. Discuss the validity of this concept but when doing so, consider such products as Axe, Secret, Barbie and G.I. Joe dolls, sneakers and other gender directed brands. I want you to also address the following questions: What do you think of teenagers (or their parents) who spend inordinate amounts of money for designer bags, jeans, sneakers or coats? Do we really need UGGs for babies? Should bras, thongs and sexy lingerie be targeted to pre-teen young girls? Will the next generation be able to "have" what their parents have achieved?
