1. You are a social worker who works with people who do not have enough food, clothes or shelter (basic needs.) Your client recently found a job but tells you he will spend his first check on gambling. You don't agree with this but the client insists. What social work value and ethical principle should you consider? How might you address this issue with the client?

2. You work with a family of four The family has moved to a new neighborhood because the father has found a better job. The new neighbors are not nice to the family and call them names saying they do not belong. One neighbor left a note on the family's door telling them to leave their neighborhood. "We don't want Chinese people in this neighborhood and we don't want your nasty Chinese food. Please leave" the note says. What social work value and ethical principle should you consider? How might you address this issue with the family?
